Job Description

  • Proactively do health check including checking of backups, available tapes in the library, down drives or any possible issue might occur during operation, this is for both Windows and UNIX servers.
  • Installing, commissioning and administrating the Veritas NetBackup Master and Media servers software and associate agent.
  • Creating backup policies, modification and scheduling of backup
  • Server restoration as well as ad hoc backup and restore request.
  • Applying patches as appropriate to the Veritas Backup software
  • Working with associate vendors as needed
  • Proactive capacity planning
  • Monitoring and ensuring for a successfully full backup especially over the weekend.
  • Do basic troubleshooting with regard to backup issue/error.
  • Escalating an issue to Server Admin and even to Onshore team to meet successful resolution and also to prevent possible downtime/outage.
  • Raising ticket to dispatch Engineer to the site if manual intervention is required.
  • Handling as many incidents as possible to ensure our customers infrastructure services, applications and hardware is restored to normal service.
  • Handled Change ticket for servers that is ready for decommigration
  • Creating some process documentation for handled activities.
  • Part of Migration team to facilitate the servers for backup
