As a Rate Programmer, the main responsibility is to ensure that the policy premium of the company is accurate and competitive. The following duties are assigned:
- Incident Tracker Maintenance: Checking the details and prompt movement status for a particular incident tracker number.
- Manual Processing and Validation: Ensuring that the contents of the manual are applicable for programming.
- Editors Maintenance: Ensuring that important information found in the manual are keyed and programmed correctly, which includes Quadrant Editor, Points Editor Vehicle Database, Zip Editor, and Rate Editor.
- Base Rates Encoding: Encoding rates provided in the manual that need to be programmed.
- Rate Programming Validation and Correction: Performing this task on a daily basis to ensure that rates are programmed accurately.
- Special Projects such as Rate Validation and Premium Analysis: Prioritizing tasks from a requesting client to perform Rate Validation and/or Premium Analysis.
- Product Validation Using Mappro 7: Ensuring that the premium for a particular company is competitive.
- Product Implementation: Ensuring that newly created incidents complete details are available and newly introduced endorsements are activated upon performing programming. This includes Incident Tracker and New Variables.
- QA Materials Maintenance: Creating and maintaining QA Materials such as Quadrant Editor, Materials, Manual Reference, Checklist, Newsletter, and QRT to maintain the accuracy and competitiveness of a policy premium.
- Production Monitoring Quantity/Quality: Consistently producing at least minimum set target capacity with at least 90% accuracy rating.
- Processing Rate Issues: Providing a detailed explanation and/or fixing issues with rates based on Help Desk email. Ensuring that it is delivered on a timely manner with accuracy. Also, accomplishing daily/audit/rate issue changes reports.
- Trainings: Conducting training for QA Materials if there is any, rotational for all assistant supervisors. Discussing the importance of daily reports and changes log for new employees.
- Reporting directly to the Assistant Supervisor: Ensuring that the assigned tasks to the programmer are reported to immediate Supervisors in a daily basis.
- Team Meetings: Attending daily team meetings to discuss the tasks for the day. Also, discussing concerns (if any) and other related matters such as updates to any procedures like in programming, checklists, etc. The meeting is done via MS Teams, and it lasts only in an average of 10-15 minutes.
- Daily monitoring of Emails: Checking emails if there will be an urgent item that needs to attend to particularly on rating matter. This also includes the following rating and special project emails for Rating Team.

As a Programmer, having attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent communication skills are important. Additionally, knowledge in programming, database management, and quality assurance is necessary.
