Automation Engineer with 26 years of experience in the concrete and oil & gas industries. I started my career in 2000, in the concrete industry as automation project manager where I was responsible for software programming, low voltage electrical drawing design, bidding, FAT, commissioning. For 9 years, we renew complete automation control system of 9 production plants. Truly interesting experience due to the human scale project which give me the chance to design from scratch complete automated production line.
In 2009, I join Saipem where I have discovered Offshore environment. I have been onboard Saipem FDS1 and FDS2 vessels, where I have been involved in successive process improvement of the vessel production equipment (J-Lay tower, Firing Line) but also been involved in general troubleshooting of onboard vessel system such as Kongsberg DP system PAGA, CCTV, Fire Alarm.
After 5 years offshore, I joined Petrofac in 2014. Assigned to a new DP3 multi-purpose vessel design and construction, I was responsible for the control system design architecture, control system specification, source code review (PLC, HMI and SCADA) for offshore production equipment such as J-Lay S-Lay, Pipe assembly plant, Abandon and Recovery Winches. I have been also involved in wind farm Galloper project for Petrofac, as commissioning engineer for telecom package (PAGA, LAN network …) and instrumentation system (Fire alarm, water mist…).
In 2023, I joined Saipem who chartered the JSD6000 Vessel. I followed the shipyard activities in Shanghai China, participate to the vessel sea trial (production and marine sea trial). I was in charge of all interfaces between equipment (definition, specification, implementation and programming). At the handover of the vessel from ZPMC to Saipem, I actively provide my support and transfer my knowledge to the software engineers team onboard during the 2 first J-Lay Project Buzios7 and LAPA project. In background, I have implemented an automation network (OT) to facilitate all software maintenance and troubleshooting of the main vessel equipment, merge all SCADA in a single vessel global SCADA, virtualized (Proxmox) all software development tools in a robust cluster platform, and installed, configured IBA system (ibaPDA/ibaHD, datalogger 90,000 tags).
JSD6000 Derrick Pipelay Vessel (Shipyard, Offshore)
Part of the JSD6000 Vessel team during shipyard activities for vessel handover and onboard crew as vessel software lead. I implement the backbone of the OT network. I also shared and transferred my knowledge of the overall vessel control systems to the new software engineers’ team.
JSD6000 Derrick Pipelay Vessel construction as consultant for ZPMC, business partner of PETROFAC (China)
In the JSD6000 Vessel consultant team, responsibilities included:
J-Lay Tower commissioning (UK)
Galloper offshore wind farm Project (UK)
JSD 6000 Derrick Pipelay Vessel (UAE)
In the JSD6000 Vessel Development Team, responsibilities included:
Saipem FDS1 and FDS2 vessels (Offshore)
Assigned to the JLay Tower and Firing Line on board of FDS1 and FDS2 Vessels for Pipe laying projects such as Liwan (China), P55(Brazil), Urugua (Brazil), Burulus and Sequoia (Egypt), Kizomba Satellite (Angola) and during vessel dry dock in Cap town and Marseille. My scope of work was:
9 fabrication plants of blocks, pavements, beams and others concrete products (France)
Assigned to revamp, modify, improve and maintain control system of 9 factories in the concrete industry.
Activities were performed by an internal service of 2 persons, with and target the complete renewal of all the automation part that became extremely obsolete.
