After graduating from high school in 2019, I pursued admission to veterinary schools in Korea. However, repeated failures led to deep frustration. Initially, I was filled with determination and passion to become a veterinarian, but as time went on, the continuous setbacks eroded my confidence. Despite studying diligently every day, I found myself losing direction as I failed to achieve my desired results. Realizing that I could no longer continue on this path, I had a heartfelt discussion with my uncle, a career coaching expert, which led me to consider a new challenge.
I chose to pursue a degree in nursing for two main reasons; First, my closest cousin graduated from nursing school and has been working at a hospital for the past five years. Observing her, I came to realize that although the job is demanding, it is immensely rewarding. Nurses provide care and support to patients and their families, alleviating their pain and suffering while promoting healthier lives through their services. This unique sense of fulfillment and value is something only nurses can experience. Given my personality, which leans towards helping others and considering their needs first, I believe nursing is a suitable field for me.
Second, I have a talent for completing tasks efficiently and effectively. For instance, during high school, I was actively involved in the biology club for three years, where I worked on various projects with dedication. Particularly, during the school's annual festival, I played a key role in preparing the club's exhibits, effectively managing time and resources to achieve successful outcomes. Additionally, I served as the vice president of my class throughout high school, where I honed my leadership and responsibility by mediating conflicts among classmates and organizing numerous events and activities. These experiences have been instrumental in developing the organizational skills and sense of responsibility necessary for a career in nursing.
Through several years of failing my university entrance exams, I have learned humility and perseverance. If I become a nurse, I will always serve with a humble attitude, embodying the spirit of service. I will apply the theoretical knowledge and practical skills I have acquired, combined with a genuine love for patients and their families, to fulfill Nightingale's mission and strive to become the best nurse possible.
