In the occupational health domain, responsibilities include conducting pre-employment and periodic medical examinations, assessing fitness for duty and managing work-related injuries.
A Senior AME conducts medical examinations for pilots, air traffic controllers, and other aviation personnel, evaluating their physical and mental health to determine fitness for duty. Responsibilities include:
Senior AMEs are expected to maintain professional standards, adhere to the American Medical Association's Code of Ethics, and engage in ongoing aviation medicine education. They must also comply with FAA's conditions of appointment, including equipment requirements and timely communication of any changes in practice.
1. As Aviation Medical Examiner (AME)
Responsible for conducting medical evaluations of pilots, air traffic controllers, and other aviation personnel to ensure they meet the medical fitness standards required for licensing and safe aviation operations. Issues medical certificates and collaborates with CAAP’s Licensing Authority in accordance with national and ICAO guidelines.
2. As Occupational Health (OH) Physician
Provides medical care and health assessments to CAAP employees, promotes workplace safety and wellness, monitors occupational risks, and implements health programs to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
