Work History

Specialist Geophysicist

Kuwait Oil Company
Amahdi Kuwait City
04.2014 - 06.2025
  • Employed at KOC as a Specialist Geophysicist in the innovation & Technology group in the Research and Technology Subsurface team. My role is to work with all KOC assets to enhance production and reserves by deploying new technologies and work flow methodologies in exploration and development of reservoirs in Kuwait both on and offshore.
  • Active interaction with the assets to help execute on reservoir challenges in a hands on capacity specializing in Geophysical and Geological technologies and deployment of them for use in Reservoir Characterization, sub-surface imaging, fault and fracture characterization and geo hazard identification. Working with assets to pick optimum well paths to avoid non-productive drilling time and ensure well bore stability and in zone placement of the wells.
  • In the last ten years I have helped assets and Kuwaiti professionals to improve reservoir production through enhanced understanding of faults and fractures, hydro-carbon migration pathways, drilling and production challenges primarily in tight carbonate reservoirs Unconventional and clastics in Kuwait.
  • Team Project Lead and through my role in R&T SS developed an in house KOC Technology and Methodology program using Seismic Attributes and Several available AI/ML platforms in the Big Data area to Detect Faults and Discrete Fractures in the Makhul, Najmah tight unconventional type reservoirs to enhance reservoir understanding. This project was done entirely in house in KOC using available in-house Technologies and Expertise. The assets also would like to continue work on this technology and methodology seismic attribute program for various other offshore and onshore reservoirs. This technology has been imbedded projects for other assets in the Ratawi, Tayarat and Mauddud reservoirs and Marrat and been highly successful in enhancing production and understanding reservoir behavior.
  • This technology and methodology workflow project was a no cost in house KOC developed project that allowed the asset to combine it with the Engineering and Geological data and come up with several new well locations as well help to provide better well paths to provide better well bore stability while drilling. This all contributes to savings in an E2P field strategy. My hands on interpretation and integration of geological and geophysical academic ideas and practical case examples and working data sets interpreted hands on, means KOC does not have to spend money on outside consultants as key technology deployment can be duplicated in any company with access to specific vendor technologies.
  • Have been a major contributor and initiator on the Helium and Hydrogen Exploration and Development in the State of Kuwait. Initiated the Technology roadmap and establishing a workflow for the program and working with the team to evaluate the Helium potential in Kuwait. In 2022-23, the task force team in R&T SS conducted a preliminary gas-sampling program in order to identify sweet spot areas for potential Helium exploration and production. A main contributor to date in integrating initial Helium and Hydrogen analysis into a large macro scale picture of the entire State of Kuwait and potential areas of interest as well as coming up with several hypothesis on how Helium and Hydrogen is potentially formed and trapped in Kuwait geological reservoirs.
  • Enormous knowledge and hands on experience in unconventional and conventional fields as well as knowledge of global reservoirs this knowledge can be utilized by KOC in pursuit of unconventional reservoirs, heavy oil such as the Tayarat and conventional reservoirs through the adaptation of global workflows and technologies to KOC reservoirs
