I enjoy spending my free time outdoors, especially through fishing, hiking, and camping, which let me connect with nature and find peace away from the busy routine of everyday life. One of my favorite hobbies is Gyotaku, the traditional Japanese art of fish painting. Gyotaku originated in Japan during the mid-1800s as a way for fishermen to record their catches before photography existed. The process involves applying ink directly onto the fish and then pressing rice paper or cloth over it to create a detailed imprint. This method captures not only the size but also the unique textures and patterns of each fish, making every piece one-of-a-kind. Today, Gyotaku is valued not only as a record of fishing but also as a beautiful art form that blends nature, culture, and creativity. Through these hobbies, I get to enjoy both adventure in the wild and the creative expression of preserving those moments in art.
