Over-all lead in managing the community engagement of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde from community partnership, community outreach, volunteer program, advocacy and institutional requirements of students.


Key Achievements as Director:

  • Relaunched the Center for Social Action (CSA) as the central resource of the College’s Community Engagement, redesigned programs to effectively cover learning, research and service components. Strengthened relations with strategic partners and stakeholders, guided by a yearly needs assessment and impact reporting.
  • Enhanced reciprocity of college-community partnership through formation programs which increased number of barangay partners and improved our deployment of students involved in community service.
  • Spearheaded new programs to increase community engagement of community partners and the Benildean community. Among these new programs are Benilde Summer Arts Festival, Handog Benildyano, Saint Benilde Community Engagement Award,Paghilom sa Pagkain and the Community Partners Formation Program
  • Partnered with Media Relations Office to regularly feature stories of our initiatives which increased public visibility and attracted external funding for selected projects.

Key Achievements as Volunteer Formation Unit Coordinator:

  • Revamped the Volunteer Management Framework to follow a flat organizational structure that values participatory leadership, shared responsibility, and accountability. Streamlined the application and recruitment and assessing programs to address actual community needs. Defined tasks and responsibilities while restructuring recruitment and training. Improved the way volunteers process, evaluate, and report their learning experience.
  • CSA core volunteers became the most awarded student group in Benilde, besting other student groups in winning the Gawad Benildyano.
  • It was also during my term when CSA core volunteers received accolades to the 6th Philippine Student Quill Awards for two programs, namely: “Lihim ng Kahapon: Ang Kwento ng Martial Law” and “LIKHA: Community Education Sessions”
  • Introduced a performance-based volunteer evaluation with community feedback.

Key Achievements as Advocacy Unit Coordinator:

  • Institutionalized the Magbayanihan para sa Halalan, an advocacy campaign for voter education. Recruited volunteers to conduct sessions within and outside of the College.

  • Served as Secretariat to the Alliance of Migrant Workers and Advocates and the Network Opposed to Violence against Women Migrants (NOVA) to amend Republic Act 8042.
  • Served as Member of the Editorial Board of Kanlungan publications. Wrote annual facts and figures on Filipino Migration.
  • Conducted training and communication education to raise awareness of migrant workers and their families.
