  • Supports the perineum when the neonate is about to be delivered. Perform routine newborn care.
    Assist physician in episiorrhapy.
    Performs after care.
  • Provides health teachings to the mother and her significant others for proper care of the newborn.


Out-Patient Department (OPD)

  • Establishes rapport with the patient.
  • Assist patient or significant other in filling out patient data sheet.

Pediatric, OB-GYNE, Surgical, Medical, and Critical Ward

  • Receives comprehensive endorsement from previous shift using chart to chart methods.
  • Makes rounds in the ward, follow up current status of patients.
    Introduces one self and orients patients and or significant other on the hospital Policies and procedures.
    Maintain therapeutic environment.
  • Renders comfort measures and provide hygiene needs.
    Ensures the institution of safety measures within the 8 hours duty.
    Renders comfort measures by:

-turning patient to sides every 2 hours without fail (if not contraindicated)

-render oral/personal hygiene of the night shift or as per patient request

  • Administers medication and treatment in accordance with guidelines, policies and procedures and observes its reactions.
  • Assists patient with meals and ensures the nutritional/hydration requirements of the patient is met.
  • Monitors and records patient’s vital signs and intake and output measurements.
  • Observes patients for signs and symptoms of any untoward reactions and initiate remedial actions when necessary.
  • Notifies immediate superior of physician of any unusual untoward, difficult situations of conditions of the patient.
  • Responds to patient’s call immediately.
  • Utilizes and demonstrates sensitive communication styles, to patients are fully informed and consent to treatment.
