Emergency Room (ER)

• Perform procedures such as IV insertion per doctor’s order.
• Administered prescribed medications and explain any discharge instructions to the family and patient, and prepare to take over care at home and deal with injuries from patients and their family member.
• Admits patients and facilitate transfer to ward per doctors order.
• Educates patients and or significant other with discharge summary instructions for proper intake of prescribed medications and scheduled medical check-ups.
• Check for availability of emergency room drugs.

Delivery Room (DR)

• Receives patient through endorsement.
  Assesses and records the mother’s vital signs
  Assist the physician in performing internal examination.
• Performs strict aseptic technique in assisting the physician performing internal examination.
• Perform labor watch by monitoring the interval, frequency and intensity of the uterine contractions as well as the baby’s heartbeat while inside the mother’s womb.
• Mounts the mother to the delivery table safely.
• Instructs the mother to be in lithotomy position and helps her stimulate her nipples.
• Supports the perineum when the neonate is about to be delivered. Perform routine newborn care.
  Assist physician in episiorrhapy.
  Performs after care.
• Provides health teachings to the mother and her significant others for proper care of the newborn.

Out-Patient Department (OPD)

• Establishes rapport with the patient.
• Assist patient or significant other in filling out patient data sheet.
• Obtains patient’s hospital case number (for patient with previous records).
• Gathers and records patient’s health condition, vital signs and other pertinent data.
• Performs assessment through recording medical history to avoid allergies and negative reactions to medication.
• Endorses patient’s health condition to the physician.
  Anticipates and responds to patient/physician/family member/co-workers needs.
• Collaborates with other department regarding laboratory test, x-ray procedures, hospital referrals and others.
• Retrieves laboratory results and endorses it to the physician for further treatment.
• Educates patient and or significant other on treatment plan ordered by the physician and on how to manage their illness or injury.
• Produces accurate, contemporaneous and complete records of patient consultation, consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.
• Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote patients to live healthily and encourage principles of self-care.

Pediatric, OB-GYNE, Surgical, Medical, and Critical Ward

• Receives comprehensive endorsement from previous shift using chart to chart methods.
• Makes rounds in the ward, follow up current status of patients.
  Introduces one self and orients patients and or significant other on the hospital Policies and procedures.
  Maintain therapeutic environment.
• Renders comfort measures and provide hygiene needs.
  Ensures the institution of safety measures within the 8 hours duty.
  Renders comfort measures by:

-turning patient to sides every 2 hours without fail (if not contraindicated)

-render oral/personal hygiene of the night shift or as per patient request

• Administers medication and treatment in accordance with guidelines, policies and procedures and observes its reactions.
• Assists patient with meals and ensures the nutritional/hydration requirements of the patient is met.
• Monitors and records patient’s vital signs and intake and output measurements.
• Observes patients for signs and symptoms of any untoward reactions and initiate remedial actions when necessary.
• Notifies immediate superior of physician of any unusual untoward, difficult situations of conditions of the patient.
• Responds to patient’s call immediately.
• Utilizes and demonstrates sensitive communication styles, to patients are fully informed and consent to treatment.
• Assist the physician with diagnostic and therapeutic procedure when necessary. Provide safe precautions at all times.
