  • Performs ante-mortem inspection of slaughter animals and post-mortem examinations of their carcasses, organs and parts;
  • Enforces the humane slaughtering techniques or practices on food animals abattoir;
  • Ensures the production of clean meat through the enforcement of approved and proper meat handling (slaughtering, etc.) practices in slaughterhouse, meat transport, and meat markets;
  • Maintains personal cleanliness and hygiene in the use of proper attires among slaughterhouse workers and the provision and proper use of amenities;
  • Supervises pre-operation and post operation cleaning and disinfections of slaughterhouse premises, equipment and animal effects everyday;
  • Ensures the proper disposal of condemned carcasses, organs and parts by open kettle rendering if not affected by any dangerous diseases, if not available, the condemned shall be buried deep in the ground with the application of lime;
  • Accomplished properly all prescribed report form of NMIS and submits them regularly at the end of the month;
  • Helps in animal quarantines work that may be instituted by the agency concerned during the outbreak of reportable animal and poultry disease by regulating the entrance and exit of live animals and carcasses to and from slaughterhouse;
  • Conducts and/or in animal disease intelligence works among slaughterhouse animals kept in holding pens and lairage of the slaughterhouse;
  • Performs other related duties as may be required from time to time.
  • Conducts Meat Inspection of imported meat in NMIS Accredited Cold Storages and Meat Distribution Centers.
  • Conducts Meat Inspection of imported meat in NMIS Accredited Meat Cutting Plants.
  • Conducts Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure (SSOP) surveillance within the Meat Establishment.
