Prepare beds for newly admitted patient, help with the assessment of patient care, collect relevant data and information, plan safe, economical and efficient nursing care, check vital signs and observe the neurological status of the patient, prepare the patient and the necessary equipment for diagnostic procedure and assist them, administer the medication as prescribed by the attending physician, maintain confidentiality of patient’s record, check all equipments on regular basis, making certain that they are in good working condition, participate in the rehabilitation of patients and making plan for discharge, accepts responsibilities for current clinical practice by engaging in various form of continuing education.
Provides a high standard of nursing care, performs duties in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, carries out nursing assignments efficiently and assumes accountability of patient care given, listens attentively to the endorsement, takes note of patient’s name, complaints and special procedure required, provide nursing care plans for patients scheduled for surgery- emotional, psychological and spiritual support, health teaching during pre and post- operation, explains procedures to be done, check the pre-operative checklist which includes the consent, provides comprehensive nursing care to all post operative patients, monitor vital signs, level of consciousness accurately as well as intake and output monitoring especially for post operative and critical patients, performs other nursing activities such as bathing, oral hygiene, catheterization, enema, steam inhalation and dressing procedures, observes signs and symptoms and institutes remedial action with appropriate recording, prepares and administers medicines both oral and parenteral strictly following 10R’s, notes patients reactions and records them appropriately, attends to all patients call and needs politely and courteously and performs all other duties required by immediate superiors.
