As a Marine Operations Coordinator, you are responsible for overseeing and coordinating various aspects of marine operations to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of maritime activities. Your role is essential in supporting the safe and timely movement of vessels, cargo, and personnel, while adhering to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Responsibilities:
1. Vessel Scheduling and Coordination: You are responsible for scheduling vessel arrivals and departures, coordinating berth assignments, and optimizing vessel movements within port facilities. This involves liaising with port authorities, terminal operators, shipping companies, and other stakeholders to minimize congestion and maximize operational efficiency.
2. Cargo Handling and Logistics: Coordinating the loading and unloading of cargo is a critical aspect of your role. You work closely with cargo owners, stevedores, and logistics providers to ensure the efficient handling, storage, and transportation of various types of cargo, including containerized goods, bulk commodities, and hazardous materials.
3. Safety and Compliance: Ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and safety standards is paramount. You oversee the implementation of safety protocols, conduct regular safety inspections, and provide training to personnel on emergency procedures and safety practices. Additionally, you ensure that vessels comply with international maritime regulations, flag state requirements, and port security protocols.
