- Coordinate with the other departments, especially the power house regarding load changes which may affect the drum level/steam flow
- Ensure that the normal operating condition should be maintained to prevent carry-over
- Ensure the proper operation of the de-aerator
- Ensure that the chemical; dosing pumps are always operating
- Ensure that the economizer is working normally
- Make sure that feed water is properly treated and boiler water quality conforms to the standards specified
- Ensure proper de-ashing done by the operators and mechanic

- Record on the logbook the boiler operating conditions including; Comments on load condition with particular reference to abnormal load and changes in operating requirements; Emergency conditions and remedial action taken; extent and times blowdown is done; manual changes made to equipments, breakdown and maintenance; Boiler water and feed water quality data; And the amount and times of chemical dosing
- Perform necessary measures during emergencies
- Must sign-off their shift's log to confirm that it is a true record of events that occurred during the shift
- Makes a report on the updates and necessary requirements for the boiler
- Recommend to the department head any revision inclusions to the existing maintenance procedure which may lessen maintenance activities
