Duties and Responsibilities

• Receive and accepts clinical specimens according to SOP guidelines to ensure optimal conditions for the recovery of pathogens.
• Prepares culture media (agar and broth) for culture and ability to plant clinical specimens according to its specific culture media.
• Skilled in isolating pure culture colonies for best results in Microbial Identification and Sensitivity Testing.
• Skilled in operating machines and its data software, updates annual validation and calibration and able to perform manual testing for back up.
• Perform routine staining techniques like Gram staining, AFS, KOH prep and India Ink and be able to Identify staining patterns for initial classification of bacterial identification.
• Performs monthly QC using ATCC Control strains of E.coli, P. aeroguinosa and S. aureus.
• Participates and hands on analysis of Microbiology NEQAS or National External Quality Assessment Scheme.
• Performs routine Urinalysis, routine Fecalysis, Semen Analysis, Occult Blood and Pregnancy test.
• Performs manual and differential count of body fluids.
• Carries out QC before shift and plot to QC charts, interpret control result and find ways to troubleshoot rejected values.
• Performs examinations such as Full Blood Count, RBC Indices (MCV, MCH, MCHC), Retics Count, PT, PTT, Clotting and Bleeding Time, ESR, Malarial Test, and initial reading of Peripheral Blood Smear and Blood Typing.
• Performs gel and tube crossmatching, DAT and IAT test.
• Carries out proper documentation and issuance of blood and other blood components according to standard operating procedure of the hospital.
• Perform QC and graph charts according to Levey-Jennings charts and interpret control results; investigate and find ways to resolve rejected results.
• Performs routine blood chemistry tests includes glucose (fasting, random, challenge test), lipid profile, blood urea nitrogen, blood uric acid, creatinine, SGOT/AST, SGPT/ALT, Troponin I, HBA1C, Electrolytes, Bilirubin, Total Protein, Albumin, Globulin, and enzyme analyses
• Delta check results and report critical results to physician in charge.
• Performs routine serological and antibody tests such as thyroid function tests (TSH, FT3, FT4, T3, T4), D-Dimer and CRP, antigen and antibody detection for Typhoid and Dengue Tests, Hepa Profile Tests like HbsAg Qualitative, anti-HCV Qualitative, anti-HBSag Quantitative and anti-HIV.
• Follow attentively on SOP manuals of the testing kits and QA policies.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Receives specimens according to standard protocol, ensure proper conditions are met: time of collection, volume and with no contamination.
• Skilled in identifying normal and abnormal cells, crystals, ova or parasites and report accordingly to standard operating procedure of the hospital.
• Perform cleaning and maintenance functions of machines before and after shift to provide trouble free aberrations within the analysis.
• Carries out QC before shift and plot to QC charts, interpret control result.
• Delta check results and report critical results to attending physician.
• Ensure and follows standard protocol on receiving guidelines of blood and other blood components: note for temperature handling and storage, appearance of clot, hemolysis and contamination.
• Execute proper storage of blood and other blood components according to Bloodbank Guidelines by checking and monitoring the room temperature and refrigerator are maintained.
• Performs gel and tube crossmatching, DAT and IAT test.
• Ensure samples received follows correct storage and handling to ensure quality of test results and avoid deterioration of analytes being tested.
• Performs routine blood chemistry tests.
• Performs routine serological and antibody test.
