It is important to reduce the number of organisms and risks of disease.
It also creates pleasant working conditions for employees.
· Prepares and checks the building (DTF) due to farrow sows.
The building should have proper ventilation.
Pens, feeders, water supply, transported at a minimum and comfortable number to prevent unnecessary stress and injury.
· Monitor health status and condition of the sow.
Ensure that condition and feed intake are monitored.
At partition time, sows do not feed 24 hours before their expected date, however we need to ensure that the sow are given sufficient water.
Check dates of due to farrow sows.
· Perform farrowing process.
Consult the sow and litter recording system to see it there have been any previous problems at farrowing.
Monitor more closely if there is a record of high stillbirth rates and if it is the first parity. If a serious problem arises, consult a farm veterinarian immediately.
Prepares brooding area, beddings, and jute sacks to cover the floor around the sow farrow, then proceed to assist as sow farrow, clean and wipe newborn piglet.
Removes membrane covering the nostrils and the mouth to avoid suffocation.
Applies iodine to the umbilical cord and massage to stimulate breathing, then guide piglet to the teats of the sow to stimulate sucking of colostrum.
Weigh piglets individually and record.
· Record farrowed sows.
Records sow litters (total born, total reared, still birth, mummified, and condemned at birth, parity, and boar name/number).
· Perform cross fostering.
Foster piglet so they can gain access to a teat, suck, and hence survive.
· Perform procedure for new piglets.

Tooth clipping to prevent damage to the skin and teats of the sow and avoid harming other piglets.
Tail docking to prevent tail biting that causes infection. The tail must be docked at least 1 inch length.
Performed castration on 7 to 10 days old piglets.

Transport to Nursery Section (uses pig boards when moving or transferring piglet).
· Monitor pig mortality.
Roving and collecting twice a day.
· Monitors and maintains proper ventilation and temperature of the building using automated control system.
· Maintains biosecurity.
· Maintain cleanliness of entire farrowing
